Preparing for Your Coil or Implant Appointment

Before you come in for your procedure, we’ve gathered everything you need to feel informed and confident. Below, you’ll find clear, easy‑to‑follow information and short videos that walk you through what to expect, how to prepare, and what happens on the day of your appointment. Taking a few minutes to review these resources will help ensure your visit goes smoothly and that you feel fully prepared.

Prior To Your Appointment

  • It is important to not have unprotected sex from your last period, until your appointment (or for at least 7 days prior to your appointment).
  • Please ensure you complete the consent form that you received via text.
  • For coil fits only: Please return your self-swab to our reception at least 7 days before your appointment so that we have the results in time.

On The Day of Your Appointment

  • Make sure you are well hydrated and have eaten lunch beforehand.
  • Take some paracetamol and/or ibuprofen 30 to 60 minutes before your appointment - this will help with any discomfort during and after the procedure.
  • For coil fits only: Bring a sanitary towel to your appointment, as there could be some bleeding afterwards.
